TROPICAL DEPRESSION #8 FORMS EAST OF THE LESSER ANTILLES
Wednesday September 12th 2007 - At 11:00am the center of Tropical Depression Eight was located near latitude 13.2 north and longitude 44.6 west or about 1130 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. The Depression is moving towards the west-northwest near 12 mph. This general motion is expected to continue with some decrease in forward speed during the next 24 hours. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph with higher gusts.
Some strengthening is forecast during the next 24 hours and the Depression could become a Tropical Storm later today or tonight. Estimated minimum central pressure is 1007 MB or 29.74 inches.
Residents are reminded that we are in the peak months of the hurricane season. Everyone should continue to monitor this system, as it has the potential for tropical cyclone development.
The Department of Disaster Management will also continue to monitor this depression and update the public accordingly.
